The duration of the Bachelor of Dental Surgery Course is 5 years (4 years + 1 year Compulsory Rotatory Internship).

PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
AIM

The dental students during training should acquire adequate knowledge, necessary skills and reasonable attitudes which are required for carrying out all activities appropriate to general dental practice involving prevention, diagnosis and treatment of anomalies and diseases of the teeth, mouth, jaws and associated tissues.

The students should also understand the concept of community oral health education and be able to participate in the rural health care delivery programs existing in the country.

OBJECTIVES

The objectives are dealt under three headings: (a) Knowledge and Understanding, (b) Skills and (c) Attitudes.

(a) Knowledge and Understanding
  1. Adequate knowledge of the scientific foundations on which dentistry is based and a good understanding of various relevant scientific methods, principles of biological functions; ability to evaluate and analyse various facts and data scientifically.
  2. Adequate knowledge of the development, structure and function of the teeth, mouth and jaws and associated tissues both in health and disease and their relationship and effect on the general state of health.
  3. Adequate knowledge of clinical disciplines and methods which provide a coherent picture of anomalies, lesions and diseases of the mouth and jaws.
  4. Adequate clinical experience required for general dental practice.
  5. Adequate knowledge of the constitution, biological function and behaviour of persons in health and sickness.
(b) Skills
  1. Diagnose and manage various common dental problems encountered in general dental practice.
  2. Prevent and manage complications while carrying out surgical and other procedures.
  3. Carry out investigative procedures and interpret laboratory findings.
  4. Promote oral health and help prevent oral diseases.
  5. Control pain and anxiety among patients during dental treatment.
(c) Attitudes
  1. Apply current knowledge of dentistry in the best interest of the patient and community.
  2. Maintain a high standard of professional ethics and conduct.
  3. Improve awareness and provide solutions for oral health problems.
  4. Participate in CDE programs to update knowledge and professional skills.
  5. Help in implementation of the national oral health policy.

Note:-

  • University Enrolment Fee, university sports Fee and university Examination Fee will be charged as per actual as decided by the university.
  • The above fee is fixed by the "FEE & FIXATION REGULATORY COMMITTEE" duly appointed by C.G. Govt. as per the guideline of Hon'ble Supreme Court.
  • The hostel fee is Rs. 85,400.00 per annum for academic session. This amount covers cost of lodging & boarding. The caution money of Rs. 5000.00 is payable in First Year along with the total Hostel Fee. (The Hostel Fee is subject to revision)
